If you are soon headed off to college, you will probably be sharing a small dorm room with at least one other student. Most dorm rooms do not allow much space for you to store your personal items, not to mention get your studying and sleeping done. With a normal dorm room bed, you may have a minimal amount of space beneath it, but it will probably not be adequate for every item necessary for your life. You may begin to wonder if there is a solution to this dilemma. Consider investing in a futon bunk bed.

Advantages of Using A Futon Bunk Bed

Futon bunk beds enable you to make extremely efficient use of a small amount of space. On the top of this contraption is where you sleep, creating extra space on the bottom. Here you can fit a full or a partial futon, depending upon your personal preference. If you would like to bring your own desk, then choose the partial mattress. On the other hand, if you value having more space for guests to sit when they visit your room, you should go with the full mattress. If you tend to be a private person and prefer that others do not sit where you sleep, then this arrangement is ideal for you.

Disadvantages of Using A Futon Bunk Bed

Instead of simply getting the free provision that comes along with every dorm room, you would need to make a relatively significant financial investment for the luxury of extra space. In addition, you would need to do the work of setting it up instead of merely arriving in your room with your sleeping area already set up for you. However, keep in mind that setting it up would not be an insurmountable task by any means. If you make your decision based on the initial labor involved, in the long run you may end up wishing you chose differently. In addition, the furnishing that comes with the dorm room will need to be stored somewhere. Check with your Resident Assistant for permission to remove the existing furnishing from the room and replace it with yours. Perhaps your mom or dad would not mind tossing it in the back of his or her car and storing it for you. One additional factor is whether you play a sport that forces you to experience frequent injuries. In this case, you could eventually encounter difficulties. Keep that possibility in mind if you are in any way prone to debilitating physical injury.

As you can see, there are many advantages to having a bunk bed with futon setup, and there are a few disadvantages as well. This kind of arrangement allows you to be far less cramped in your dorm room, opening up extra space for you to use as you wish. Your sleeping area may be less accessible, but you will still have a place for guests to sit. Make a scholarly investment in your college experience and purchase a futon bunk bed today.
